Biography James Edwin Meadows
A London landscape painter, James Edwin Meadows was the son of well known artist, James Meadows Senior, and came from a family with a strong artistic tradition.
Despite being based in London, James Edwin Meadows traveled extensively throughout Great Britain seeking inspiration for his landscapes, particularly concentrating on the Southern coastline. He frequently painted views in Essex, Kent, Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.
James Edwin Meadows exhibited at the major London Galleries including the Royal Academy (1854-72), the British Institute and the Royal Society of British Artists.”

Condition: Please see photos for an understanding of the item’s condition. Looking closely at the artwork, the upper portion of the painting has some yellowing and fine cracks- this is the region with the clouds (white paint). Upon closer inspection, we found that some paint is missing- one pea-sized area in the bottom left-hand corner, and one pencil-tip sized alongside the upper right hand border have been affected. No other area seems to be affected like this. Overall, the painting is in very good condition. The frame is in very good condition as well!!
