FREDERICK (Fred) PANSING Local Scene Of LEDYARD Connecticut Countryside Listed Artist ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR

Fred Pansing, born in Bremen, Germany in 1844, is most well known for his accurate depictions of marine and sailing ships. His original paintings are rare and most of his work is seen through lithographs.After leaving Germany, Pansing settled in Hoboken, New Jersey in about 1860. This painting, dated 1906, is of a Cape Cod farmhouse and barn. We aren’t certain of the significance of the location, but there is lots to see. Orchards of trees surround this charming house, as chickens cross the road.Signed “FRED PANSING” in the lower right and “LEDYARD CT 1906” in the lower left, the painting is in excellent condition. It is both matted and framed in a beautiful, wood carved frame.The actual watercolor measures 7”x11”; while the framed piece measures 12”x16”. The painting is protected under glass.This is a “must” for any collector of Pansing’s work. Alternatively, if you’re from Ledyard, this piece of history should be yours.
