We have here another wonderful find in this Exquisite Antique German Half Doll.
As photographed, she stands about 8 1/2 inches tall and has a diameter at its lower round base of about 4 1/4 inches.
This beautiful Lady Emma Hamilton half doll has been exquisitely crafted with loving attention to many fine details such as her long slender fingers, the tiny pink rose she is holding next to her period-appropriate pale grey coiffure/wig, the dark painted-on ribbon neck choker and above all, her magnificent little face with sweet cupid bow ruby lips.
We have tried to the best of our ability to present the maker marks which appear on the lower portion of the Porcelain body. We see Germany incised as well as the number 15542. There also appears to be a maker logo incised, but we have not been able to identify the Maker. We would not want to venture any guesses.
Half Dolls, Pin Cushion or Tea-Cosie Dolls were quite popular in the early 1900’s and were lovingly used as decorative objects.
Our Lady Hamilton Half Doll’s porcelain torso is in lovely Antique condition; unfortunately not so for her beige lace over-skirt and soft pink Silk Under-skirt. The fabric is definitely showing its age and the under-skirt in particular is fairly age-shredded. The Beige Lace Over-Skirt also shows shredding, but not as much as the Under-Skirt. It appears that the Blue Ribbon across the breast area was probably placed on her at some later date and does not appear to be original to the Doll.
This very beautiful Antique German Half Doll is quite the and should be a fantastic addition to your collection. She can only continue increasing in value as more and more time goes by bringing you many admiring compliments and a good deal of personal pleasure.
