This is a large Enamelware Container, believed to be for use with Grain on a farm. This is a huge Container with a stated capacity of 25 Liters (about 6.5 US Gallons). It has a cover with one (1) perforated areas for ventilation and would be good for storing dry items such as Pet Food, Onions, Garlic, or Potatoes. The Container is a bright vibrant Blue color which would make it a wonderful display piece as well. The inside has a White finish with Black trim at the rim.
The Container is 17 inches high (to the top of the lid). It is 16 inches from the base to the rim. The base is 14-1/2 inches in diameter, while the rim is 10-3/4 inches in diameter. Best seen in the 5th picture, the Container tapers from a smaller diameter at the rim to the larger base diameter. The Container weighs about 6-1/2 pounds. On the underside of the Container is the product information which identifies the maker as CSEPEL, a Hungarian company.
There is light wear to the enamel at the rim, at the base, and at the junction of the handles and the body of the Container. The lid has a hinge, but it is missing the hinge rod (can be fixed with a small rod and two cotter pins, available from any hardware store). The inside shows light wear with a circular rust stain at the bottom. There is a small bend at the lip of the base, but just slightly out of position. The overall condition of the Container is very good (see pictures above).
This is an eye catching vintage Container that would be good for many applications. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
