We are pleased to present the hard-to-find 1954-56 Great Ideas of Western Man Portfolio for your consideration. It was printed by the Container Corporation of America and consists of 26 glossy sheets that combine quotations from famous historical figures with related artwork. Container Corporation of America lent a great deal of support to Art and the Humanities, and became one of America’s most admired corporations. Great Ideas of Western Man achieved great success and is considered one of the most famous advertising campaigns in history.
Each of the glossy sheets measures 14 inches high and is 11 inches wide. The set is complete, and we have included pictures that show the entire list (see picture #6 and #7). The green column shows who provided the quotation with the white column showing the artist responsible for the graphic design. The Portfolio weighs just over 1 pound.
The Portfolio cover shows moderate edge and corner wear with some light creasing. The individual sheets show slight darkening from age towards their edges, and some occasional slight creases (but not folds). All sheets are clean, unmarked, and undamaged. We rate the Portfolio cover as being in good overall condition with the twenty-six (26) individual sheets in very good to excellent condition (see pictures).
This is a fantastic and complete set of the 1954-1956 edition of Great Ideas of Western Man, in exceptional condition. The individual sheets would look superb in frames, or simply as wonderful additions to any advertising collection!
